'I started documenting my life in the form of a photo diary after I moved from Iran to the Netherlands. At the beginning, in an unfamiliar city, with a new culture and a different climate, everything seemed cold and colourless. That’s when I started to take pictures – like this one – to reflect on the sense of boredom, isolation and homesickness I was feeling. It was an attempt to create my own parallel, imaginary world.'
