'The Daisy Cutter is the name of a cluster bomb used in Lebanon, where I made these pictures after the July War in 2006.
I guess I was trying to find beauty within the destruction for my own benefit as an artist. I soon realised this was such a disturbing state of mind, so I changed direction, colouring in all of the destruction I had photographed by hand. Aesthetically, it became even more beautiful, and therefore — in some way — more truthful.'
