"My brother, Ciarán, died suddenly in 1999, aged 33. My mother, Kathryn, never managed to escape the grief of such a time-reversed event, right up until her own death in 2017. The K images are a meditation on the unresolved grief of a mother for her son. They show the shifting forms of a series of spectral figures, set against the backdrop of Ireland’s west coast and southwestern Spain. The series references the Irish tradition of keening, a vocal lamentation for the dead."
