'It's a vulnerable moment. Taking a photograph is a search between two people, both individually. It's part of a conversation, and almost becomes a ritual. Culture and ritual are passed on from one generation to the next, through the process of socialisation. I love seeing women all over the world, and thinking about what binds us. The layers of history that formed us will be passed on into the future. It's this continuous search that allows us to discover ourselves. Where the inside world and the outside world collide.'
