"Growing up on Aruba, I was definitely influenced by the car culture there. Cars have been in my memories for as long as I can recall – from my dad’s Toyota Corolla being stolen, to my parents’ two-door Japanese Geo Storm.
In my photographic work, I’ve often considered vehicles as timestamps. There’s something special about the experience of entering a car for the first time; a machine designed for you to feel something, aesthetically and functionally. I see them as in-use sculptures. This image is one of many I’ve made over years spent admiring these machines, forming part of a bigger automotive research project.”
