“It was the monsoon season, and my assistant and I were driving from Bangalore to the western ghats. I remember endless hours on bumpy roads looking at the landscape from the car window: cloudy skies, heavy grey, gas stations. Upon entering the jungle, the storm broke.
The rain was so loud that I could barely sleep in my tiny hotel room, soaked in dampness. When I got home, I realised that my stack of large format sheet films were stuck together due to the moisture. I feared that the trip was all for nothing, until the lab told me they managed to save some of the films. I could only title this hand-painted print, Magic Jungle.”
