Dear Stranger (self-portrait), 2020
Print size: 22 x 32 cm including white border
"In my images, I often use characters as stand-ins and metaphors with which to understand the psychology of late capitalism. These characters inhabit a liminal space – between aspiration and feeling defeated – where they look for ways to escape the path that society expects them to follow: be it ideas of success, youth, or of how to appraise and measure our lives.
This piece is an ode to the selves we leave behind – our past selves. I embrace the notion that my characters are able to reinvent themselves, to the point that they can’t look back and see their past selves any longer – like a stranger they once knew."
