Look At Me, 2018
"Look At Me is a series of works inspired by a quote from the writer James Baldwin (1924-1987). 'You never had to look at me,' he writes. 'I had to look at you. I know more about you than you know about me. Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced.' My work emphasises that addressing an issue requires active confrontation, examining the unseen. It's about what is exposed to light and what is not, like the cyanotype technique itself."
