“These images are part of my Naivy series. Navigating themes of adventure, belonging, and loss of innocence, the series pays tribute to an imagined nautical universe, peopled by my fictional ‘Lost Naïvy’ sailors. Although these seamen don the traditional suit of an American Second World War sailor, their naked lower halves signal a departure, embodying the paradox of desiring both collective belonging and individualistic freedom. Naivy reflects a world that hinges between play and danger, freedom and entrapment, celebration and elegy, nostalgia and fear for the future.”
