“This is an image from the Grandmothers on the Edge of Heaven series. For this project, I create collages, combining portraits of elderly women and objects from their everyday lives into heavenly landscapes. I want to tell the story of their confusion and embarrassment, and the faith that someday all their struggles will be gone. For this particular photograph, I lifted rubber fitness spheres to the sky, as if there was no gravity, To me, they look like magical celestial bodies; like ghosts glowing against a blue sky.”
