“Mostly taken in 2016, in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, the images from Country of Women show a younger generation of queer women. I was interested in tracing a generational shift, as well as how different countries with a shared past deal with their present.
This image shows two frail and tender figures juxtaposed against a desolate city. The empty sky makes this fleeting moment between women translate into something more: an ascension above the unwelcoming cityscape.”
